Welcome To Vintage Altec Lansing!

Vintage Altec Lansing

Since there has been speakers and sound in movie theaters, Altec Lansing has been on the cutting edge of sound system technology.  In 1927, the first movie with sound or talkie, The Jazz Singer, was assisted by the company that would eventually become Altec Lansing.  In 1953, the first Altec stereophonic sound system went into a movie theater for House of Wax.  Since then, Altec Lansing has developed loudspeakers, drivers, crossover, etc for musicians, computers, and mp3 players.

However advanced and portable Altec Speakers are now, interest in buying and having vintage stereo equipment flourishes.  This is mostly due to the nature of the company’s products and their indisputable longevity.  It’s not uncommon for vintage Altec speakers to run without exception or flaw for over thirty years!  Surely, the same loudspeakers that blared at Woodstock in 1969 are still bringing joy to the same aging hippie.

Since the early nineties and the surge of interest in the vintage, collectors have sought after vintage Altec loudspeakers, woofers and other audio equipment.  Finding these items for sale can be tricky, but each find is a treasure that’s sure to keep performing in the future as long as Altec’s been making stereo equipment in the past.
